NSCDC Ekiti Cooperative Society to inaugurate income-generating hostel project

The Cooperative Society of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command, has concluded plans to inaugurate a student hostel project at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, as part of efforts to boost its revenue base.

The Chairman of the Cooperative Society, SC Emmanuel Adeleye, disclosed this during the Society’s Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) held at the Command Headquarters along Ado–Ikere Road.

According to the Chairman, the project was conceived by the management to expand the cooperative’s income streams and enhance the overall welfare of its members. He noted that the hostel project, with an estimated completion timeline of twelve months, is projected to generate an average annual revenue of twelve million naira for the society.

Addressing concerns raised by some members regarding the possibility of project abandonment, SC Adeleye reassured them of the management’s commitment to completing the project within the stipulated timeframe. He emphasized that the initiative would significantly strengthen the financial capacity of the cooperative.

He further assured members that the execution of the project would not affect the society’s ongoing welfare commitments, including the consistent provision of loans, food items, and household electronics to members.

Providing an overview of the society’s activities during the period under review, the Chairman reaffirmed the management’s dedication to improving members’ welfare through sustainable and impactful initiatives.

In his remarks, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Ekiti State Command, CC Toma Mathew Enya, pslc, who also serves as Patron of the Cooperative Society, commended the management for its prudent and effective administration. He urged the executives to maintain transparency and accountability in managing the collective resources of members and pledged his continued support for the growth of the society.

A key highlight of the meeting was the inauguration of a five-member electoral committee tasked with conducting the cooperative’s elections scheduled to hold during the Annual General Meeting in May 2025.

The meeting also featured the presentation of cheques to retired members entitled to their retirement benefits.
